Learn About Our Classes

People who are diagnosed with diabetes or prediabetes need to learn how to manage their blood sugar through diet, exercise, and possibly medication. Many also need to reduce their weight. A series of four sessions, offered either mornings or evenings, provide the information and encouragement needed to live with a diagnosis of diabetes. Information is provided about the basics of diabetes, insulin and other medications, blood glucose monitoring, carbohydrate counting and portions, complications of diabetes, label reading, dining out and recipes, and the importance of stress management and exercise.

Program Information:

Sessions are offered free of charge to residents of Martinsville and Henry and Patrick Counties.

Sessions are offered on different days and at different times and locations throughout the week.

A physician referral is not required for this class although consulting your doctor is strongly advised. For questions or to sign up for the class, please contact our Community Health Educator at 276-403-5030.
