MHCCHW receives a $50,000 grant for Ladies First
Thursday April 27, 2017
Earlier this month, at the Circle of Hope Celebration held in Roanoke, Virginia, Susan G. Komen Virginia Blue Ridge Affiliate presented a check to the Martinsville-Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness for Ladies First: Community Breast Health Initiative. This money will be used to go towards impactful community outreach, education, increasing access to mammograms and other diagnostic tests for uninsured and underinsured women in our community. Ladies First is part of the MHC Coalition for Health and Wellness and has a partnership with Memorial Hospital of MHC, Radiology Associates, and Caring Hearts Free Clinic. The program operates in 3 locations: Health Connect (Uptown Martinsville), Bassett Family Practice (for the health center's patients) and at the Caring Hearts Free Clinic of Patrick County (Stuart, VA). For the 2016 grant cycle, Ladies First served nearly 330 people.
