Give the gift of a healthier community...
Your gift to the Martinsville Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness helps ensure a healthier future for our community. The Coalition promotes health, works to reduce health risk factors and to improve access to health care within our community. We encourage families and children to enjoy healthy activities and increase awareness of how healthier behaviors can make the future brighter for citizens in our area. Our programs are designed to promote exercise, improve nutrition, improve self-management of stress and chronic disease and provide basic medical care for the uninsured.

Give a gift that makes a difference!

-Your gift of $25 will provide a month of diabetes testing supplies, including a glucose meter and/or testing strips, to a newly diagnosed diabetic patient. When you give to the Coalition, you are providing someone right here in this community a chance for tomorrow.

-Your gift of $45 will help provide a medical visit and testing for an individual who would otherwise do without. Your gift will support the Free Medical Clinic of Martinsville and Henry County which serves uninsured residents who meet current Federal Poverty Guidelines and have no primary care physician.

-Your gift of $75 will provide an eye exam for an uninsured diabetic patient or aging resident of Martinsville and Henry County. Regular eye examinations may detect potentially treatable blinding eye diseases or signs of tumors or other anomalies of the brain.

Healthy Tip of the Day

Healthy Tip of the DayProtect Your Ticker:  Skip sugary drinks.  According to research from the American Heart Association, women who drink two or more sugary drinks a day are four times as likely to develop high triglycerides, putting them at increased risk for diabetes and weight gain around their waists, all of which can lead to heart disease.  Swap sugary drinks for calorie-free fruity seltzers or, better yet, WATER!
