Education CenterLocated at 6890 Greensboro Rd. (U.S. 220: Map) in southern Henry County near Ridgeway, the Education Center offers free classes to help people learn how to lead a healthy lifestyle and to manage chronic illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease. Healthy Lifestyles Beginning in November 2007, Healthy Lifestyles classes started on Wednesday nights. These classes encourage people to make small changes to their eating and physical activities. This can help them with weight management or may prevent future health problems. Click Here to learn more about this program. Diabetes Education People who are diagnosed with diabetes or prediabetes need to know how to manage their blood sugar through diet, exercise, and possibly medication. Many also need to reduce their weight. A series of six classes, offered either mornings or evenings, provides the information and encouragement people need to prevent prediabetes from progressing to diabetes, or to manage their diabetes. High Blood Pressure and Heart Disease Education A series of five classes, taught by nurses, dieticians, or social workers, provides information on medications, recommended changes in food choices and cooking methods, reducing stress, and physical activities.
