gabriel Edmondson, D.O., M.A.Dr. Edmondson joined Bassett Family Practice in 2017 upon completion of the residency program at ShenandoahValley Practice in Front Royal, VA. He is board certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathy. He earned a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Mercer University in Macon, GA and a Master's of Arts in Bioethics from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. and then went on to complete medical school at Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA.
In his spare time, gabriel enjoys exploring the natural world in various ways, from hiking and canoeing to experience the outdoors to blacksmithing and woodworking to shape and learn about raw materials. "I take pleasure in expanding my mind by reading a wide selection of works, from fantasy to philosophy to medical journals. A well-rounded mental and physical education is essential to functioning as an effective Family Physician; it is my intent to live a relatively simple life while learning about as many aspects of the universe as possible, and to use that knowledge and experience to help improve the lives of my patients and myself".
Rhonda Clark is a Family Nurse Practitioner with a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Nursing Practice, all from Old Dominion University. She is certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and provides compassionate care to the patients in the Martinsville-Henry County area.
Kwamba Nkembe, M.D.
Dr. Nkembe moved to our area from Brooklyn, NY, where he was serving a family medicine residency at State University of Stony Brook. He holds a master's in Public Health from Hunter College at City University of New York and an M.D. from St. Matthew's University School of Medicine in the British West Indies. He has conducted extensive research on affordable, cost-effective healthcare systems in Africa and on the prevention of infectious diseases. He has served as Prevention Program Director for the African Services Committee in New York, NY, to train community leaders on HIV/AIDS, STD's and other infectious diseases. Dr. Nkembe speaks English and Spanish. El habla ingles y español.
Alethea Barrino, M.D.
Dr. Barrino is a Board Certified physician in Family Medicine.She joined Bassett Family Practice in 2015. Dr. Barrino has shared her medical skills by serving a variety of healthcare organizations that include emergency medicine, hospitals, urgent care clinics as well as outpatient care clinics. She is also a part of the American Medical Association. Dr. Barrino graduated summa cum laude from Winston-Salem State University in 2005. She then went on to complete her doctorate of medicine degree at East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine in 2009. She completed her medical career and residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. During her medical school and residency training, she volunteered for nearly two-dozen organizations and has been involved with providing school physicals and sports examinations, physicals for fire-fighters and she has also volunteered at community free clinics and enjoys giving back to the community.
Tracy Lange, FNP
Prior to joining Bassett Family Practice, Tracy attended Ohio University where she received her bachelor's degree in Psychology. She later went on to attend Case Western Reserve University where she received her master's degrees in Nursing, received her Family Nurse Practitioner Board Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is also a member of the International Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau.
Tracy lives in the area with her husband and 5 beautiful children.
Julia Hodnett, FNP
Julia is a former Registered Nurse practicing as a Nurse Practitioner. She has an undergraduate degree from Eastern Mennonite University and a graduate degree from Duke University School of Nursing. Her internships and training have primarily been in sliding fee clinics. She is certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She brings with her extensive experience with her strong nursing background and a passion to serve.
Cyndi Eberhardt, LCSW
Cyndi, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, is a trained and licensed mental health therapist who joined Bassett Family Practice in October 2015. She earned her master's degree in Social Work in 1995 from Catholic University in Washington, DC. She has over 20 years of experience as a clinical therapist helping children, teens and adults cope with behavioral, mental and emotional problems that interfere with their daily lives. She will collaborate with the primary care physicians at Bassett Family Practice to help patients achieve their optimum wellness, not only for their physical health but also for their mental and emotional health.
